Becoming a mother brings new joy, new challenges and entirely new needs, both physical and emotional. During this deeply transformative time, when support matters most, far too many women still experience discomfort and inadequate support.
Carriwell was founded in 1996 on a simple yet powerful insight: nursing bras were often uncomfortable and poorly designed. From the very beginning, we asked ourselves one guiding question that continues to inspire everything we do today:

We listen carefully to mothers, midwives and healthcare professionals to develop products that genuinely support women through every stage of motherhood. Our focus is always on comfort, closeness and uncompromising quality.
All Carriwell products are designed in Denmark and reflect Scandinavian values of functionality, aesthetics and thoughtful care.
For us, comfort is not only about soft materials. It is about creating the freedom and confidence for mothers to be present, to find calm and to nurture the precious bond between mother and child.

Seamless Design — Our Signature Since the Beginning
As the body changes, clothing must adapt with it. This understanding led us to specialise in seamless design nearly three decades ago. While many brands now use the term seamless, for us it has never been a passing trend. It has always been the foundation of our approach to creating natural comfort and gentle support for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
When we speak about seamless design, we mean more than simply the absence of seams. We mean a feeling of lightness. A bra or top that moulds to your body, moves with you and feels almost invisible against the skin.
During pregnancy and early motherhood, when the body is constantly evolving, this difference is felt in everyday moments. It allows freedom of movement, ease of breathing and the emotional space to remain present.
Seamless design has therefore become our signature. It represents more than comfort alone. It reflects our desire to give mothers reassurance during a vulnerable time and to create products that feel right not only today but in the long term. It is the beginning of everything we stand for.
Responsibility in Practice
Motherhood naturally brings a heightened need for reassurance, not only in how products feel on the body but also in how they are made. At Carriwell, we believe this reassurance must extend to the materials and processes behind every product we create.
We recognise that true sustainability is an ongoing journey. Every form of production has an environmental impact. Our responsibility is therefore to make thoughtful choices that reduce unnecessary consumption and prioritise long lasting quality. Our philosophy is simple: fewer products, created with greater care and purpose.
This commitment is reflected in our use of internationally recognised certifications. For us, certifications are not marketing tools. They are independent assurances that our standards are measurable, transparent and trustworthy.
Carriwell textile products are Oeko Tex certified, ensuring they are free from harmful substances that could affect you or your baby. The cotton we use is OCS certified organic cotton, grown without pesticides for the benefit of both people and nature. Our packaging is made from FSC certified paper sourced from responsibly managed forests.
Where we apply GRS certification, it ensures not only that recycled materials are genuinely traceable, but also that social responsibility is upheld throughout our value chain. This includes fair working conditions and positive contributions to the communities where production takes place.
To further support longevity and adaptability, every Carriwell bra includes a complimentary bra extender. This small yet meaningful detail allows the product to adjust alongside your changing body, extending its lifespan without compromising comfort.
We understand that no production process is perfect. However, we remain committed to choosing the most responsible solutions available and to communicating openly and honestly. For us, responsibility is not a trend. It is a natural extension of the care we have always shown mothers and a promise to the next generation.
At Carriwell, we also believe care begins within our own organisation. By working with principles of balance and presence, including a four day work week, we create an environment where our team has the time, energy and clarity to design products with genuine thoughtfulness. We can only support mothers fully when we also support one another.
Gel Support Technology and the Importance of Closeness
During pregnancy and breastfeeding, healthcare professionals often advise women to avoid bras with rigid metal underwires. A hard underwire can place pressure on milk ducts, cause discomfort and in some cases interfere with natural milk flow.
However, mothers need more than softness alone. They also require reliable support that enables freedom of movement, physical confidence and emotional calm. At Carriwell, we believe comfort and support should always exist together.
This belief led to the development of our patented Gel Support technology, created in close collaboration with midwives. Instead of a traditional rigid wire, we use a flexible gel structure designed specifically for the pregnant and breastfeeding body. It adapts naturally to breast changes, allows space where tissue expands toward the underarm area and provides gentle lift and support similar to a classic underwire but without the associated risks. Few bras offer this unique balance of comfort and structured support.
Our nursing bras are also designed to maximise skin to skin contact. Cups can be fully opened without additional fabric panels restricting closeness. These intimate moments of connection are deeply significant. Skin to skin contact encourages the release of oxytocin, often referred to as the love hormone. This supports milk production, soothes the baby and strengthens emotional bonding.
